Captain Tony Wielicki of Spot Tail Charters has been an outdoor fanatic and boat enthusiast for all of his life. As a South Carolina native, Tony found his passion for fishing on Lake Marion where he grew up chasing catfish and bass. However he was quickly drawn to the salt after his first trip offshore. At the age of 16, Tony began spreading his love for the outdoors as a hunting guide for the South Carolina Waterfowl Association in the winter months and offshore fishing in the summer. After earning a degree in Agricultural Mechanization and Business, he pursued a career in agricultural sales. He quickly realized his heart was not in it as he spent every spare moment either on the water or building his homemade flats boat. He began pursuing his passion of fishing by becoming a mate on a commercial fishing boat out of Murrells Inlet. As a mate, Tony perfected bottom fishing techniques and also became a proficient spear fisherman. This experience gave Tony a unique view on South Carolina’s reefs and fisheries to cap off his fishing experience.
